So it turns out I've been posting a new(ish) piece of work on this blog every week for the last three years. And to mark the occasion (as is my custom) I am posting an image of Bill "I Don't Know Who You Are And I Don't Understand Why You Keep Drawing Me" Murray. This year it's "Stevesie" himself, Captain Steve Zissou from Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I toyed with the idea of making something with the Captain last year, but decided there was already far too much artwork celebrating him on the internet and anything I made would be surplus to requirements. Since then two things have changed:
- There's more Steve Zissou artwork online
- I don't care
So here he is. A leader fried and battered by decades of exposure to saltwater, sunshine and loss. A totem who has lost sight of the man he once was - haunted by shadows of his past and taunted by former glories.
As a captain, friend, husband and (possible) father he is selfish, negligent, arrogant and lost... But that doesn't change the fact that he is The Zissou.
