Only Lovers Left Alive Movie Poster

Film Poster Tom Hiddleston Tilda Swinton

So, I really intended to stop making movie posters... at least movie posters for films released in 2014...  at least for a couple of weeks. But then I didn't and I made this one for the languorously atmospheric Jim Jarmusch vampire flick Only Lovers Left Alive.

Which really is a fantastic film, and shows that no matter how much a subject (vampires in love) has been smashed into the ground recently, someone with a unique and interesting viewpoint (Jim Jarmusch) can still say something original about it (this film).

Adam and Eve (Tom Hiddleston and Tilda Swinton) have been married for centuries and now live apart in the ruins of old Detroit and Tangiers respectively, but they still talk on Skype. Throughout the course of the film and their reunion the script covers addiction, the decline of the West, rock and roll, celebrity, depression, Einstein's "spooky action at a distance", Tesla, collecting, true love, and tons of other good stuff. Plus the soundtrack is brilliant (Jarmusch's band Sqürl providing a lot of it), it's really funny and the supporting cast features Anton Yelchin, Mia Wasikowska and a John Hurt that looks like it's made of dust and sand.

I like the movie so much that I'm a little bit ashamed of my poster. Which is largely irrelevant. The film is so impeccably shot that you could take any single frame and you'd have an image that would absolutely kill it as a poster. Nothing else necessary.

Incidentally, I finally got around to seeing Birdman on the weekend. It was great and I updated my old posters to celebrate. You can see them HERE (if that's the kind of thing you're into).
